Relaxing Dental Experience

Part of our exceptional dental experience is helping you relax and rest easy during treatment. If the idea of dental treatment makes you or your family members apprehensive, nervous or anxious, we can help. Working together with you, Dr. DiBartola creates a personalized sedation plan to help you settle in while he performs your dental treatment.

Are You a Good Candidate for Sedation Dentistry?

All patients who experience dental anxiety may benefit from our personalized approach to sedation. If you or your family members have any of the following fears or concerns, please ask our team at DiBartola Dental about sedation dentistry:

  • Are afraid of needles and/or shots
  • Experienced a traumatic dental visit in the past
  • Struggle with the smells or noises of being at a dentist's office
  • Have overly sensitive teeth, a strong gag reflex, or trouble getting numb
  • Require a more complex dental treatment
  • Feel self-conscious about your teeth
  • Desire a more comfortable dental treatment

Personalized Sedation Solutions

Sedation dentistry at DiBartola Dental is foundational to ensuring a relaxing patient experience. We work together with each patient to determine the sedation approach that best matches the treatment and the desires of the patient.

We offer the following sedation options for a safe, relaxing, comfort-driven, world-class treatment experience.

Nitrous Oxide

Nitrous oxide sedation, also known as "laughing gas," is commonly used to make treatment more comfortable and great for patients that feel anxious in the dental chair. This form of sedation is inhaled through a mask and produces a state of relaxation throughout treatment. We gently place a mask over your nose and mouth, asking you to breathe deeply. In a few short moments, anxiety disappears and is replaced by relaxation. This simple sedation method offers the least amount of risk and any side effects vanish as soon as the mask comes off. Once treatment is over, the nitrous oxide quickly leaves the system, which means a short recovery time! Depending on the patient’s needs and wants, we can use laughing gas for treatments ranging from regular cleanings to more advanced procedures.

We gently insert an I.V. line into a vein in your arm. This line delivers a steady flow of medication to keep you unconscious throughout treatment. You will wear an oxygen mask to ensure proper breathing and we will closely monitor your vital signs while you rest easy. This more advanced form of sedation allows patients to have complete ease and comfort right throughout the entire procedure.

IV Sedation
Oral Sedation

For patients who may be uncomfortable with Nitrous Oxide or IV Sedation, we also offer sedation they can take by mouth in the form of a pill. We will provide a prescription pill to make you feel drowsy and relaxed. Depending on the patient and the sedative, oral sedation may lead to sleep during treatment. After the treatment is completed, it may take the balance of the day for the sedation effects to wear off.

Is sedation dentistry safe?

Administered by trained professionals, sedation dentistry has been proven to be safe and effective for dental treatment. Without sedation, the patient’s blood pressure tends to rise. With sedation, studies show that treatment becomes safer by reducing blood pressure during the procedure.

How long will it take the sedation to wear off?

Recovery time from sedation is dependent upon the method used. Because sedation causes drowsiness, we always recommend that you arrange transportation to and from your treatment. After sedation, you should not drive, drink alcohol, or operate machinery.

Relax and enjoy your dental experience with sedation dentistry at DiBartola Dental.

Patient Reviews

I have been going to Dr. DiBartola for 5 years now. His entire staff has been a pleasure to work with and are efficient in every possible way. I recently had a surgical procedure involving dental implants in August. This involved a full arch dental implants on the lower part of my mouth. In all honesty this has been a life changing procedure and although I was nervous at first, the experience with Dr. DiBartola as well as with the staff was very calming…

Dr. DiBartola is the best dentist ever! He has been with me through my process of getting implants and care of my teeth. I was concerned with the cost also. His price is so affordable which put my mind at ease. He really cared about me and my worries. I appreciate everything Dr. DiBartola has done for me. Much love to him and his staff! I TOTALLY RECOMMEND HIM!!!

Always treated well by everyone in the office. The support I have received has been outstanding. I will be forever grateful to this team and the care they have provided me. They’ve given me my life back. I’m smiling again, I’m not afraid or embarrassed anymore❤️

You and your staff exceeded my expectations from the moment I walked thru the door to the time I left. Not only did I feel at ease but I also felt heard and cared for and you don’t get that from people anymore. I am excited to come back for my treatment and for any other oral needs. You have a forever client with me, my wife and hopefully my friends too. My offer also still stands to cook for you and your staff. May God continue to bless all of you and may you all thrive professionally and personally in all your endeavors!!!

Normally, I am terrified of the dentist but they made me feel comfortable from the moment I walked in. Mariah was very welcoming and helped calm my nerves before I went back to the exam room. The hygienist was very kind and through. The Dr. was very gentle and patient with me. I would 100 percent recommend 👌

I hate going to the dentist but I can tell you I’ve been going here for at least 6yrs now and have always had a wonderful experience from the time I call to make an appointment to the end. The staff is very kind and helpful, the office is clean and modern, and the procedure was quick and painless. I would recommend them to anyone looking for a dentist.
